Bishkek has clean air for most of the summer, but air quality is poor during the winter heating season, due to coal burning and occasional temperature inversions trapping air in the city.<\/p>

We have an air quality sensor outside in the playground with real time data<\/a><\/span>.<\/span>\u00a0The US Embassy\u00a0AQI data<\/a><\/span><\/span> can be seen here for comparison. The outside air quality (PM2.5 AQI) is continuously displayed in the school Caf\u00e9 and we implement the BIS\u00a0AQI policy for outside play<\/a>.<\/span><\/span><\/p>

Inside school, we aim to keep AQI below 50. We have air filters on all air intake systems, manage window and door opening times, and have air purifiers in all rooms and corridors. Air purifiers are used during the school day when outside AQI is over 50. Check here for the real time AQI in the BIS library<\/a>.<\/span><\/span> All rooms are checked by staff daily, using a mobile air quality sensor to maintain the AQI below 50 in all rooms.<\/p>
